GARC Gets ₹221.13 Crore to Upgrade EV and Vehicle Safety Testing Under PM E-DRIVE

The Ministry of Heavy Industries announced on 28 September 2026 that the Global Automotive Research Centre at Oragadam near Chennai is upgrading its vehicle testing infrastructure with ₹221.13 crore under the PM E-DRIVE scheme. The money will add electric vehicle and battery testing, crash safety equipment, advanced driver assistance system testing and heavy commercial vehicle testing. ASCI Issues Labelling Guidelines for AI-Generated Content in Advertising

The Advertising Standards Council of India issued the "Guidelines for Responsible Labelling of Synthetically Generated Content in Advertising" on 29 September 2026. They take effect three months after publication. Advertisers must disclose synthetically generated content whenever it materially influences a consumer's decision, using wording such as "Video created using AI". Some uses are barred even with a label, including fabricated endorsements and deepfakes. Routine editing and accessibility features are exempt. India Signs UN Convention against Cybercrime at UNGA 81

India signed the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime on 25 September 2026 in New York. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar signed it on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. The Convention is the first global treaty of the United Nations on cybercrime. IIT Delhi Develops India's First Indigenously Designed Micro-GPU

Researchers at the Electrical Engineering Department of IIT Delhi have built India's first working, indigenously designed micro-Graphics Processing Unit. The chip design uses a custom floating-point GPU engine written entirely in Register Transfer Language and mapped onto a Spartan-7 Field Programmable Gate Array board. Mirabai Chanu Wins Asian Games Silver in Women's 49 kg, Ends India's 28-Year Weightlifting Wait

Mirabai Chanu won the silver medal in the women's 49 kg weightlifting event at the Asian Games on 23 September 2026 in Nagoya, in Japan's Aichi prefecture. Delhi High Court Allows Termination Beyond the Statutory Limit, Holds Forced Motherhood Impairs the Right to Live With Dignity

The Delhi High Court on 15 September 2026 allowed a petition for medical termination of pregnancy filed on behalf of a 15-year-old rape survivor, even though the pregnancy had crossed the 24-week statutory ceiling.
